Having lived and served in Rwanda for years, our founders were no strangers to the pressing needs of the African people. They realized that many good people in developed countries would like to help those in need, but simply were not aware of how great those needs were. So, after years of grassroots efforts in Africa, in 2014 Jerod and Katina Smith were led to put a formal name on their work. Thus, Advocates For Africa and the dream of speaking on behalf of those who can’t speak for themselves was birthed.
